Deforestation time!

OH NO!! The loggers have moved in...

Read some of the children's reactions below:

'The animals have nowhere to go!'

'What is happening? I'm so angry!'

'I'm angry because the animals have lost their home and have nowhere to go.'

'I feel confused. Why would you do that to the animals?'

'How would you like it if people cut down your home?'

'I was very surprised that this beautiful rainforest is being cut down. Think of all those homeless animals!'

'I'm traumatised!'

'I'm shocked this is what happens to real rainforests!'

'I want to put a stop to this!'

The children have begun learning French in today's MFL (modern foreign languages) lesson with Mrs McDougal. Have a little peek!

Tropical rainforest!

The children have worked really hard this afternoon to create a glorious rainforest, full of sloths, toucans and snakes, a beautiful flowing waterfall, vines and real plants and foliage.

We got into the mood with real rainforest sounds (click here to play) and the classroom now even smells like a rainforest!

Great work J5!

We have been working on multiplication and division in maths recently. The children have been using mathematical vocabulary such as dividend, quotient and remainder.

Challenge: Can everyone in J5 tell their parents what each of these words mean?
Here is an example of the thinking the children were showing on their whiteboards.

Today J5 had a play at making rhyming poems inspired by Christmas veg!

There once was a sprout with love to give,
who was looking for a friend to spend Christmas with.

First he met a penguin waddling along,
"I don't like sprouts!" he sang in song.

Next he met an elf walking about,
Then he said, "No one likes a sprout!"

Then he met Santa,
who said "I prefer Fanta!

But I don't like sprouts
For they give me gout."

He then met a dog wearing a Christmas hat,
"I don't sprouts!" he sang with a cat.

Christmas fair

J5 have been busy preparing their wares for the Christmas Fair on Friday. Come along and buy a bendy pencil at the bargain price of 50p! There's a limited number available (more than the 4 displayed!) so be quick!
